HI ALL JUST A BRIEF E-MAIL ON THE ABOVE RACE. To start with, it took 9 hours to drive to get to the start of the race camp. We stopped once for some lunch and a pee stop, you don,t want to know what that was like. OMG--UGH!!!!! The "White Desert" is amazing--can't wait to get my photo's back. I only managed to do two of the four days ( 40 miles a day--24 hours to do it in) My backpack took me out--my back was killing me. I hope to return next year with a lot of changes to how i carry my backpack. We had a very bad sand storm and the race was stopped for 12 hours. the tracker had to go out looking for some of the runners to get them to a safe place (tent). All got back safely. Only two of us didn't finish and strangely, it was his back that stopped his race 12 only took part in this first event. As i always tape my feet, i was about the only one with no blisters. 14 Desert races on--that is one lesson learned.
The Egyptian staff were great--so helpful and lots of fun. They did great food, so i am sure we have all put on weight. We saw dear little desert foxes hanging around the camp looking for food. (and they got some) We saw in the distance, the riots and heard shouting. Our hotel was out of harms way--thankfully. Good company, good food, fab place, nice staff and lots of fun and laughs what more could you ask for??
All the best, Kenwynne PS Anyone joining me next year???
