My attempt at running a continuous 150 miles around the circumference of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, has been a huge success. One of the most satisfying aspect of the run for me was being able to manage the low spots"2 big dippers" and come out the other side with strength and determination..
I had set myself pretty stringent target times to achieve, hitting the times at designated checkpoints was paramount to the success, or failure of this challenge and not letting my helpers down throughout the nights , and early hours of the mornings of Saturday and Sunday. My aim to finish the challenge at 10 am on Sunday morning, was something of a big task.... But at 10-01 am was the time I achieved "WOW" All those hours, 36, and all that distance, and just one minuet out. if I had the flexibility, i would pat myself on the back
This self inflicted Solo run could not have been achieved without the incredible help, from so many of my friends, who so willingly gave me their time
What can I say>> other than a whopping big THANK YOU to everyone who made this 150 mile run the most satisfying challenge i have ever done;;;;;.
To ALL the RRR officials and check point helpers on the middle 50 miles--"Race proper",, and as usual another great event.;;;;;
To all my friends who gave up their sleep throughout the Friday and Saturday nights, meeting me around the course at some of the most unearthly hours with food and drink, cheering me on.;;;;
To everyone who turned up to see me off and those of you who ran the first mile with me,;;;;
To all my friends and Family who were there to greet and welcome me back on the finish line and made me feel that it was all worth while What a fantastic cheer;;;
A special thanks for those of you who made two appearances through the early hours of Saturday, and Sunday morning.;;;
and to my friends who made the special journey all the way from London to support me. ;;;;
To my granddaughter who ran the first 6 miles with me leaving me with a wonderful feeling of commitment. THANKS Hol..;;
now lets get back to the topic of raising enough money to purchase and donate a specially adapted Trike for the children at Newman School, and make a huge difference... we cant set up a fund raising Just giving page, as the school is not an official charity so please contact me about donating...
Oh by the way I FEEL GREAT no ache or pain just a small blister on my little toe
What can I say>> other than a whopping big THANK Y everyone who made this 150 mile run the most satisfying challenge i have ever done;;;;;.
